Most of the hotels in Timisoara, Arad and Oradea are smart, 3-star boutique hotels. Prices range from £ 25.00 - 35.00 per person per night. We have a few less expensive options in both cities, while the more deluxe hotels can reach £ 40.00 - £ 60.00 per person, often for a small private suite. In addition we have less expensive pensions around the edge of Timisoara and Arad. Prices normally include breakfast.

Timisoara
Ceausescu's former villa in Timisoara, a rather kitsch, modernistic building in lovely parkland close to the city centre. Ceausescu's suite was recently refurbished.
Ceausescu was never popular in Timisoara and he always felt uncomfortable when he visited the city. He only ever stayed for two nights in Villa International when he met Tito for a hunting trip in the region. On subsequent visits he stayed in an imposing, 19th century villa nearby but always let people believe he was in Villa International in order to avoid potential assassination. The first apartment in Villa International still contains Ceausescu's furniture and some personal artifacts which may be used by guests. His bedroom is in heavy walnut and comprises a living room, a study, a bedroom and a bathroom which includes a special medical, massage shower. Elena Ceausescu's apartment is white with the same number of rooms and also retains certain decorative objects from her time. This room looks out onto the interior courtyard and the exterior for she liked to keep an eye on things from behind closed curtains. Other personal objects in the hotel include a portrait of the dictator and his wife, a chess table presented as a gift and an Aro 4x4 car which was used for hunting trips. This may be rented on request.

Decent, good value 3-star hotel located on the main boulevard and trolleybus route from the station to the city centre, close to Piata Victoriei. The hotel was recently refurbished and upgarded with air conditioning and modern decor.

Straightforward tourist hotel located beside the main Nord railway station. Rooms with shower and cable TV. Restaurant and laundry service. Trams to city centre.
HOTEL VULTURUL NEGRU 4*, Oradea
One of the most spectacular, elegant hotels in eastern Europe, the 'secession-style' Vulturul Negru ("Black Eagle") has undergone major renovation over the last 2-3 years and has now opened for business. The Vulturul Negru complex was constructed from 1907-1909 incorporating a glass-covered arcade covering three streets and included the hotel, a restaurant, casino and offices. It now comprises a newly renovated shopping arcade with its original, beautiful art nouveau stained glass canopy, a cinema and private apartments. It dominates the corner of the main city square overlooking the Crisul Repede river.

Flagship of the Continental Hotel group. The former 'Dacia' Hotel offers all the facilities of a quality international hotel, though lacks of the character or ambience of a smaller traditional hotel. Situated beside the Crisul Repede to the east of the centre near the citadel.
Very nice, private hotel conveniently situated near the end of the pedestrian zone in the direction of the station. The comfortable, en suite rooms overlook a spacious central Atrium. Good facilities including a restaurant and very popular with our clients.
Elegant, historic art nouveau hotel conveniently situated beside the theatre in teh centre of Arad. The Ardealul oozes character though it would benefit from refurbishment or restaurant. Clean rooms with en suite facilities.
Attractive old village house belonging to a former aristocrat on the edge of the wine village of Minis, in the Zarand Hills, Comfortable rooms with antique furniture and renowned restaurant. Your host is truly charming and can usually arrange a visit to the vineyards and with luck sampling the local wines.
